The Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to reinforce its stature as a dominant commercial powerhouse in world sport, generating significant economic expansion for all ten participating teams. Widely recognised as the third-largest professional sporting league globally by franchise valuation, the tournament witnessed its aggregate brand value increase by 11.4 per cent over the past twelve months.
In a dramatic reordering of the league’s financial leaderboards, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) leapfrogged traditional heavyweights Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders to emerge as the competition’s most valuable brand. The catalyst behind RCB’s valuation surge lies in their recent maiden IPL championship—a historic triumph that galvanized their global fanbase and significantly enhanced their commercial standing. Anchored by the enduring marketability of global cricket icon Virat Kohli, RCB’s enterprise valuation has ascended to an unparalleled $269 million (approximately BDT 32.8 billion / INR 29.84 billion).

Mumbai Indians occupy second position with an estimated brand valuation of $264 million (INR 25.24 billion), reflecting a solid year-on-year growth rate of 9.1 per cent. As five-time tournament champions, Mumbai’s corporate appeal remains fortified by a star-studded domestic lineup that features high-profile international figures including Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav.
Kolkata Knight Riders secure third place, valued at INR 23.43 billion following an 8 per cent increase in brand equity. The three-time titleholders draw tremendous marketing leverage from principal owner Shah Rukh Khan’s global celebrity status alongside a fierce regional following in West Bengal. However, the absence of multiple frontline national superstars on the pitch kept them from breaking into the top two positions.
Chennai Super Kings, historically accustomed to leading the commercial standings, slipped to fourth rank. Valued at $244 million (INR 23.34 billion), CSK’s brand trajectory experienced a modest 3.4 per cent growth over the last year. Industry analysts suggest this reduced momentum reflects over-reliance on legendary captain MS Dhoni as their primary marketing anchor, even with recent squad inclusions such as Sanju Samson.
A pronounced valuation gulf divides the top four franchises from the remainder of the field. Sunrisers Hyderabad rank fifth with a brand value of INR 16.07 billion, closely followed by Rajasthan Royals in sixth at INR 15.40 billion, who have successfully built equity around emerging talents like Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Punjab Kings hold seventh place at INR 15.11 billion, sustained in large part by high-visibility leadership under co-owner Preity Zinta despite a lingering title drought.
Despite having competed for just four seasons, Gujarat Titans have mounted an impressive commercial ascent under the leadership of captain Shubman Gill, placing eighth with a market valuation of INR 1.502 billion. Delhi Capitals sit in ninth place at INR 1.492 billion ($180 million equivalent) featuring stars like KL Rahul and Axar Patel, while Sanjiv Goenka’s Lucknow Super Giants round out the rankings in tenth with a brand value of INR 11.67 billion.
