West Indies captain Shai Hope is enjoying one of the most prolific spells of his career, producing a remarkable sequence of big scores that has highlighted both his consistency and his ability to dominate opposition bowling. His latest century, an unbeaten 102 against India in the fourth T20 international in Hyderabad, added another milestone to an already impressive run of form.
Across his last six innings in all formats, Hope has scored four centuries. His sequence of scores, from the latest backwards, reads 104, 162 not out, 52, 102 not out, five and 102 not out. The figures underline the West Indies captain’s current form, with his substantial contributions helping to strengthen the team’s batting performances.
What makes his latest achievement particularly unusual is the striking similarity between all three of his T20 centuries. Each has been scored without being dismissed, and every innings has ended on exactly 102 runs. It is a rare statistical coincidence that has given Hope’s recent performances an additional layer of interest.
His latest century came from just 50 deliveries in Hyderabad. The innings featured nine sixes and four fours, demonstrating his ability to combine calculated strokeplay with aggressive hitting. Hope’s contribution helped the West Indies post a total of more than 200, continuing a pattern seen in matches in which he has reached three figures.
The captain had previously scored a century in the second T20 international against India in Ranchi. That innings came from 45 balls and included nine sixes and six fours. His ability to accelerate the scoring rate while remaining at the crease proved particularly valuable, and the West Indies secured victories in both matches against India in which he scored a century.
Hope’s first T20 century, however, came in less favourable circumstances. In 2025, he reached three figures against Australia at Basseterre, scoring 102 from 57 deliveries. His innings contained eight fours and six sixes, but it was overshadowed by an extraordinary performance from Australia’s Tim David, who struck a century from just 37 balls. Hope’s personal milestone could not prevent the West Indies from losing the match.
Across 74 T20 appearances, Hope has accumulated 2,004 runs, including three centuries and 13 half-centuries. Those figures reflect a batter who has become increasingly capable of producing substantial scores in the shortest format of the game.
His recent performances have also demonstrated the importance of balancing individual achievement with the team’s overall needs. In T20 cricket, a century can be particularly influential when it is scored at a rapid pace, allowing a side to build a formidable total while preserving wickets. Hope’s unbeaten innings against India have illustrated that combination of aggression and control.
The West Indies will hope their captain can maintain this form as they continue their T20 campaign. While repeating the unusual feat of scoring three unbeaten centuries of exactly 102 runs would be a remarkable challenge, his consistency and recent run-scoring provide encouraging signs for the Caribbean side.
