South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock has reached another significant landmark in Twenty20 cricket, bringing up his 10th century in the format to join an exclusive group featuring Virat Kohli and David Warner.
De Kock achieved the feat while representing the Barbados Tridents against the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League. He produced an explosive innings of 106 from 57 deliveries, striking at 185.96. His knock contained 11 fours and six sixes, underlining the aggressive style that has made him one of the most established batters in T20 cricket.
The century made De Kock only the fifth batter in T20 history to reach the 10-century mark. He now has the same number of T20 hundreds as India’s Kohli and Australia’s Warner, both of whom have also recorded 10 centuries in the format.
Only two players sit above the trio on the list of T20 century-makers. West Indies great Chris Gayle leads the way with 22 centuries from 463 matches, while Pakistan’s Babar Azam is second with 13 hundreds in 359 matches.
De Kock’s latest achievement also brings him close to another major milestone. He needs only 133 more runs to become the ninth batter in T20 history to score 13,000 runs.
The South African has accumulated 12,867 runs in 457 T20 matches, having batted in 433 innings. His career batting average stands at 31.30, while his strike rate is an impressive 139.78. Alongside his 10 centuries, he has 84 half-centuries, with an unbeaten 140 his highest score.
His consistency across different T20 competitions has been a major feature of his career. De Kock has played extensively in domestic and franchise cricket, where his ability to score rapidly at the top of the order has made him a valuable asset. His role as a wicketkeeper also adds to his importance as an all-round contributor in the shortest format.
In terms of overall T20 runs, De Kock currently occupies ninth place among the format’s leading run-scorers. West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard remains at the top, having amassed 14,933 runs in 751 matches at a strike rate of 151.17.
With the 13,000-run landmark now just 133 runs away, De Kock has another notable target within reach. His latest century has strengthened his place among the most prolific batters in T20 cricket and placed him alongside two of the game’s most recognisable modern stars in the century rankings.
