“Things became a bit difficult towards the end,” Connolly remarked. “However, it was a good bowling performance. It feels quite good to have been able to win the match for Australia in the end. Winning a match for Australia at any level of cricket is satisfying. I was able to bat out there for a long time today and guide the team to a win, which feels very pleasing.”
Despite his match-winning contribution, the opening batsman admitted to feeling a sense of personal disappointment for not remaining unbeaten until the final runs were scored. He noted that he had invested significant effort into positioning himself to finish the game, but maintained complete confidence in the lower-order batsmen to secure the result.
“In truth, I disappointed myself at the end,” Connolly added. “I had done all the hard work to get into that position. Carrying an innings forward is always a positive thing. No matter who bats at the end, there is always a belief that they can secure the win. It would have felt better if I could have finished it myself. I let myself down, but I am pleased that we won.”

Reflecting on his approach during the series, Connolly noted that he had been unable to execute his tactical plans effectively in the top order during the first two matches.
